Their inhabitants, manners, customs, trade, etc. Their harbours, soil, beasts, birds, fish, etc. Trees, plants, fruits, etc."
This voyage established Dampier's reputation as a leading naturalist and many of his descriptions and illustrations of the fauna and flora of Australia were new to science.
