The continent of Australia finally emerged on world maps following the charting expeditions of Frenchman Nicolas Baudin and Royal Navy captain Mathew Flinders. This map is based on the Freycinet map, the first full map of the Australian continent, published by the French in the year 1811, following the Baudin expedition of 1800-1803.

It now shows all the latest discoveries: Bass Strait (Detroit de Bas), Torres Strait (Detroit de Torres), Spencers Gulf (Golfe Bonaparte) and attributes many of the place names by Flinders and the early Dutch navigators - but also names much of the Southern coast Terre Napoleon. The first widely available full map of Terra Australis or Australia, but still referred to as "Nouvelle Hollande" by the French.

Reproduced from the original chart, then hand coloured in the style of the period and digitally printed on high quality 300gsm coated canvas - stretched on a 3 cm thick frame from FSC certified wood.

Hanging hardware included for easy installation.

Shipped in protective packaging and a strong box to ensure no damage during transportation.
