This wall map of the Indian Ocean, shows Dutch discoveries on the Australian continent for one of the first times on a printed map.
Doncker's chart would become the standard representation of Australia for the next sixty years, as the model of all Dutch cartography of the area. The chart includes details of the Dutch discoveries in Australia of Hartog (1616); Houtman (1619); the Leeuwin (1622) and Carstenszoon (1623); as well as de Wits (1628); and Tasman's second voyage in 1644 (Northern Australia) and Peter Nuyts exploits on the South coast (1627).
Reproduced from the original chart, then hand coloured in the style of the period and digitally printed on high quality 300gsm coated canvas - stretched on a 3 cm thick frame from FSC certified wood. Hanging hardware included for easy installation.
Shipped in protective packaging and a strong box to ensure no damage during transportation.
